For Over 30 Years I Have Had A Passion for Dogs
I started my career in 1988 working as a veterinary technicion. There was a time when the grooming department of the veterinary office needed help, so I volunteered to learn to groom. Almost instantly I realized how natural connecting with dogs came to me and how rewarding that connection was and still is. After learning all I could, I decided to open my own groom shop in 1996 and have been working professionally in the dog grooming field ever since.

“Albert has been providing grooming services for our corgi Woody for most of his young life, nearly 1 1/2 years. Albert is skilled at all aspects of dog grooming. What makes Albert special beyond his excellent grooming skills is his ability to work with dogs.
He is especially good at understanding the personalities of a dog. Our dog does not like to have his nails clipped! He fights and literally screams at attempts to clip them. We tried, our vet tried, with no success. Our vet suggested medication to calm him before trying again. That is when we heard about Albert. Albert, successfully trims Woody’s nails. He spends the time to talk with and calm him. Each subsequent trimming has resulted in a better experience. His patience is tops. Albert clips and now Dremels Woody’s nails, talking him through the entire process. Woody still doesn’t like to have his nails done, but he tolerates it. All because of Albert’s “dog sense,” patience and obvious love for dogs. Albert is the best. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for dog grooming services.”

"Albert does a fantastic job grooming our Golden Doodle. She has a unique wave, which we love, so instead of using a razor to shave her, Albert suggested scissor cutting instead and a de-shed. It grows out beautifully and she gets compliments on her coat regularly. Albert is also very calming with the pups, and Hope wags her tail and obeys him when she arrives for all of her appointments. He also uses a special brush and technique to help with mats, and has taught us how to brush her at home to avoid them between grooms."

“Our dog Willie is neurotic. To say he hates nail trims is an understatement. He goes completely nuts when we touch his feet. We tried mild sedatives, but those did not work. We tried other groomers, but they could not get him to cooperate either.
We had an appointment scheduled to have him sedated for a nail trim. Enter Albert - the Willie whisperer. We heard about Albert from a mutual friend who is a dog trainer. She said that if anyone could trim Willie’s nails without sedation, it was Albert. She was right. He took the time to establish a rapport with Willie and trimmed his nails in less than 15 minutes with no sedation and no muzzle.
We are so grateful to Albert for helping Willie avoid a vet visit and unnecessary sedation. We hope Albert and Willie have a long, beautiful friendship ahead of them.”

“I have a 6 month old Cavapoo who just got her first grooming by Albert at Wilco. I was so nervous leading up to the appointment - I didn’t want her to come out looking like a different dog and I also didn’t know how she’d do with the new environment and loud noises. I’ve never had a pet before, so this was going to be a new experience for both of us!
Upon meeting, Albert calmly sat down with her in a separate room and let her get used to him as well as the new space. He was so thorough with his questions regarding what I wanted with the cut and really listened.
I was expecting to pick her up, barely cut (thinking that she’d just try to get used to the sounds), but much to my surprise, she fluffy, expertly trimmed and looked cuter than ever!!!
I can’t say enough great things about Albert! He is so good with dogs and really knows what he’s doing with the cut. He even had a video to show me how good she was during her grooming session. Thank you so much for taking care of Charlie, Albert!”

“We have been going to Albert for grooming care of our dog Molly for close to two years now. Our first time I explained how Molly just doesn’t do well with nail trimming and most people won’t touch her because of how she responds, but Albert was willing to try with her. The time, patience, and trust that he established with her before ever even putting her on the table to get her nails clipped was just amazing! He never rushed her through the process to just get it done but truly payed attention to her and how she was doing.
With each visit more trust and bond was established between the two of them. In the time we’ve been with him our Molly is like a different lady with him. She no longer behaves how she did before but allows him without any difficulty do her care.
Albert was encouraging and patient with me too:) From day one he told me he did not feel like her behavior was aggressive in a way where she wanted to attack and it was all more from fear and just letting him know she’s watching:) He loves our Molly when he has her as if she were his. Albert is truly a blessing to our family, when nobody would help us with her care he was absolutely willing. We cannot fathom ever going to anybody else’s but him.

“I highly recommend The Groom Shop in SW Portland for dog grooming services. Our rescue terrier mix is a sweet dog but afraid of new people and was especially terrified of getting groomed.
The Groom Shop owner Albert was fantastic with our little buddy. Our dog was initially aggressive out of fear but Albert was calm, patient, and gentle with him and did not give up. I watched for a while as Albert took the time to build trust with our dog and the results were amazing! I then felt comfortable leaving and when I returned about an hour or so later our terrified rug muffin of a dog was perfectly relaxed and beautifully groomed!
