Humberto Medina, founder of The Groom Shop in Portland, brings over 30 years of hands-on experience and a true passion for dogs to every grooming session. Starting as a veterinary technician in 1988, he discovered his natural talent for connecting with dogs and opened his own shop in 1996. Humberto specializes in working with all types of dogs including reactive, shy, or anxious pets, using a calm, patient approach that builds trust, respect, and confidence. By connecting with each dog’s energy and emotions, incorporating gentle handling, massage, and basic commands, he transforms grooming into a positive, stress-free experience. Skilled in all breeds, coat types, and even matted coats, Humberto combines technical expertise with an intuitive understanding of dogs, ensuring every pet leaves happy, relaxed, and looking their best. In his spare time, Humberto is a great dad to three, loves soccer, Latin dancing, and working out.

Kayla has several years of hands-on experience working with animals, with a special passion for dogs and cats. She spent nearly three years in Boise, Idaho, working in a dog daycare, boarding, and training environment, caring for dogs of all sizes, personalities, and energy levels. Prior to that, she spent two years exclusively grooming dogs and cats.
Kayla is passionate about creating a calm, safe, and positive environment for every pet. She believes every animal deserves to feel comfortable, cared for, and treated with patience and kindness.

Holly’s grooming journey began 11 years ago in grooming school, and quickly turned into a lifelong passion when she realized just how much she could help animals through her work.
For Holly, grooming isn’t just about a great haircut—it’s about ensuring every pet feels safe, loved, and completely comfortable in her care. Over the past decade, she has dedicated herself to the health and happiness of every dog that jumps onto her table.
