Humberto Medina, founder of The Groom Shop in Portland, brings over 30 years of hands-on experience and a true passion for dogs to every grooming session. Starting as a veterinary technician in 1988, he discovered his natural talent for connecting with dogs and opened his own shop in 1996. Humberto specializes in working with all types of dogs including reactive, shy, or anxious pets, using a calm, patient approach that builds trust, respect, and confidence. By connecting with each dog’s energy and emotions, incorporating gentle handling, massage, and basic commands, he transforms grooming into a positive, stress-free experience. Skilled in all breeds, coat types, and even matted coats, Humberto combines technical expertise with an intuitive understanding of dogs, ensuring every pet leaves happy, relaxed, and looking their best. In his spare time, Humberto is a great dad to three, loves soccer, Latin dancing, and working out.
